Do you want to move forward from your trauma, but don't know where to begin?

Learn how to use the three most critical tools needed to reclaim your life after trauma.

Trauma steals so much from us, but we can take back control!

The picture to the left (see below) is of me at 18 years old when my eating disorder was at its worst. I weighed 118 pounds and was binging and purging 8-12 times per day. Multiple sexual violations by this time left me with a deep sense of self-loathing and disgust.

After years of being made to feel that the only purpose for my existence was to please men, at 24 years old, I finally found a man that made me feel like I was deserving of love and respect. He provided me with a glimmer of hope. But that hope disappeared the morning I walked in to find him dead.

My life began to spiral out of control at that point. I tried pushing away my sadness with food. I reached 222 pounds (middle picture) and had high cholesterol and sleep apnea before the age of 30. I couldn't work for a while because of my deep depression, which resulted in stacks of unpaid bills and constant calls from debt collectors. I contemplated suicide daily because I thought that life would not get any better. But it did!

The last picture is of me in 2021, at 39 years old, standing in my freedom pose. This pose symbolizes the freedom and sense of victory I feel over breaking free from my traumas.

I've emerged from my darkest days into a life that is barely recognizable. I now have many loving relationships, I completed my doctorate degree, I was a college professor, I've traveled around the world, and I use what I've learned on my healing journey to help others on theirs.

You can also break free!

I've developed this program to help you design your life based on your terms. This program will arm you with the tools I used to break free from my traumas, so I could live the life that my victimizers never wanted me to have.

You are deserving and worthy of a life that doesn't revolve around something that someone else did to you or circumstances that were out of your control.

Trauma can live in your mind and body in so many ways.

  • Do you find it difficult to trust yourself or others?
  • Do you find yourself crying for no reason?
  • Do you resist speaking your thoughts and opinions for fear of rejection?
  • Do you have goals you want to achieve, but you feel that something is holding you back?
  • Do you feel like the weight of the world is crushing you?
  • Do you suffer from chronic pain?
  • Do you get so overwhelmed at times that you feel hopeless, and that life will never get any better?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this course is for you! Through this course, you will become aware of how your past trauma is still affecting your life even if it has long since passed. Through this awareness and the tools you will learn in this course, you will be able to take control of your life instead of letting your trauma control you!

Will you be okay if your life looks the same as it does now 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years or more from now?

No! I want my life to be different!

I spent years figuring this all out, so you don't need to do the same!

I've taken what I've learned from my years of healing, my years of studying and teaching about the human body and mind, and my years of studying human potential and condensed it into this program.

As a life coach, my job is to challenge you and push you farther than you would push yourself, to encourage you to grow and experience change, and ultimately the transformation you're looking for. Transformation cannot occur without growth, without change, and without becoming someone you never were before.

I would be honored to partner with you on your own healing journey.

Tools for Moving Forward After Trauma

Online Course

Like many others who’ve experienced trauma, I used to be inflamed by phrases like, “You’ve gotta move on” or “You gotta move forward.” Early in my life when my traumas were at their worst, I would want to scream, “But you have no idea what I’ve gone through!” I would be enraged at their ignorance or disregard of the pain I had endured. As I got a little separation from my pain, I would want to put my head down in defeat when I heard these phrases, frustrated by the enormity of what they were suggesting. It seemed impossible. What made these comments worse is that these individuals were never able to tell me how to move forward. They would just spout the little bit of knowledge and understanding they had of trauma, which always culminated into some version of “Just get over it”.

Given the little appreciation I have for the times I’ve been told to “Just move on”, you may find it odd that I chose to use the words “moving forward” in the title of this program. It’s, of course, on purpose. I feel like this message is on replay in various shapes and forms in the lives of all of us who’ve experienced trauma, with very little, if any, explanation on how to even accomplish that task. It usually comes from people who want us to stop making them uncomfortable when we share our stories of suffering, who’ve never experienced trauma, or they’re just parroting back the same destructive messages they heard after experiencing their own trauma.

That’s why this course is not about giving you information. This course is about giving you tools that you can immediately begin using to pick up your broken pieces and mend the jagged edges back together. It’s about finally giving you a path so you can achieve the difficult, but not impossible task of moving forward after your trauma.

Details About the Course

This is a self-paced online course with three learning modules. Each module includes videos, readings, downloadable tools, awareness-building and habit-forming exercises, and the opportunity to apply the content immediately to your life.

At the beginning of the course, we will meet for 30 minutes, one-on-one, so we can get to know each other. We will discuss why you signed up for this course, what you're hoping to gain by participating in this course, and any questions or concerns you may have.

At the end of the course, we will meet again for 30 minutes so we can discuss any questions or concerns you have about the next steps you can take on your healing journey.

In between meetings, I'll be accessible to you via email. You'll also submit each completed worksheet to me via email so I can provide you feedback.

Trauma overwhelms our capacity to cope, so to progress through it we must find ways to cope, particularly in ways that don't harm us. In this module, you’ll identify the negative coping strategies you’d like to stop using and you’ll create a plan to replace those negative coping strategies with positive strategies that’ll better serve you. You’ll also identify how stress shows up in your body and you’ll create a plan to prevent moments of overwhelm from occurring and a plan to handle overwhelm if it does creep in.

Goals are important because they allow you a new way to define yourself. Instead of defining yourself by your past, your trauma, and what you did to survive in the aftermath, you can define yourself by the person you’re becoming. In this module, you’ll begin with identifying the area of your life that’s most important to work on first. Then you’ll create a plan for achieving one goal in that area that will make the greatest difference in all aspects of your life.

We hold ourselves back by the words we use to describe ourselves, our past, and what is possible for our future. In this module, you’ll identify the beliefs that are holding you back and will replace those beliefs with ones that’ll release you from the parts of your past where you remain stuck. The purpose of this module is to help you to begin rewriting your story—the story of your past, your trauma and what you did to survive in the aftermath, and the possibilities for your future.

The process is simple, but it’s not easy.

You might be surprised that a course on trauma recovery only includes three components—self-care, goal setting, and reframing. However, these three tools were what I needed to move through and beyond every single one of my traumas. I continue to use these three tools to move through and beyond any difficult situation in my life. You will learn how you can do the same!

This course will teach you how to use these three tools to evaluate where you currently are and create a plan to change. What's even better is that you won't be doing it alone! I'll be your partner on this journey.

"Stephanie is an incredibly talented teacher, adventurer, and person. Despite facing extreme obstacles, she is absolutely bursting with life and never backs down from pursuing her dreams. She is a good listener and is very willing to adapt to the needs of her clients. She also possesses a stubbornness and determination to never let her clients give up or take shortcuts. When I first met Stephanie, I was recently married and struggling to maintain a balance between life as a newlywed, part time work at a golf course, and being a full-time college student. Stephanie helped me through that time and encouraged me to continue pursuing my goal of being an occupational therapist. She reminded me of the value that I have as a person and the unique skills and abilities that I possess. By working with her I became more confident and learned to find a balance between all the activities I was trying to juggle. I am very grateful for Stephanie and the help she gave me during that difficult point in my life."

Frequently Asked Questions

I am not a therapist. Therapists treat diagnosed conditions. They focus on your past to explain why you have your present thoughts, behaviors, and habits. You could be in therapy for years or a lifetime. If your trauma is recent, or you're still having difficulty functioning in your daily life, therapy would be best for you. Therapy can be helpful in getting individuals back to a baseline level of good health.

I am a life coach. Life coaches do not diagnose and do not treat specific conditions. Life coaches spend little time going back into your past. Instead, they focus on getting you from where you are now to where you want to be. Life coaches set their clients up with the skills they need to eventually reach all their goals on their own. That's why coaching is not meant to be a permanent relationship.

If you're at a baseline level of good health and you need help getting unstuck so you can reach the bigger goals you have in life, then you would be a good candidate for life coaching.

Although this program focuses on helping people who have experienced trauma, this program is meant for those individuals who are functioning in their daily life but can see how the effects of their trauma still linger in their present life. My programs are about empowering my clients with the skills they need to move forward from their unchangeable past.

If you're unsure whether you should be working with a therapist, life coach, or both, please email me or schedule a free discovery call to discuss what would be best for you.

You will have access to the course content (all modules, videos, and tools) for 12 months after your course registration date. Unused meetings will expire 12 months after your course registration date.

Yes. You will email me your completed worksheets, so I can provide you with feedback and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Our meetings will be held on Zoom. I will ask that you have your camera on. I find it is easier to feel connected when we can see one another. The improved relationship strengthens the impact of the course.

You will receive instructions on how to schedule the meetings in the online course, which you will have access to immediately after registration.

It is your responsibility to notify me at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting if you cannot make the session. If the session is cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled start of your call, no refund or rescheduling of the appointment will be available to you.

That’s terrific! I encourage you to check out my online course, Transformation After Trauma, which focuses on reaching the pinnacle of trauma healing—post-traumatic growth: serotinouslife.com/transformation-after-trauma-course
