This course is for individuals that have experienced trauma, but are at a baseline level of good health and are functioning in their daily life. This course will walk you through the steps of The BOSS Technique, a proprietary coaching method I created to help my clients move forward from their unchangeable past.

B = Balance

When you make the decision that enough is enough and you are going to take back control of your life, it is time to become aware of the areas where stress and trauma have infiltrated your life. It’s an opportunity to dream again and decide what you want your future to look like. My job as a life coach is to help you move from where you are, to where you want to be, but we first have to know your starting point and the destination you are aiming for. So we examine the 10 areas of your life (career, finances, contribution, health, personal growth, spirituality, family and friends, romance, recreation, and environment) and devise a plan to bring all areas of your life into harmony.

O = Outcome specification

Once we identify the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, it’s time to set goals to begin to decrease that gap. As a Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, I find the Outcome Specification Model, an NLP technique for setting goals, very useful. It allows you to look at the goals you want to achieve, to drill down to the nitty-gritty details on why you want to achieve the goals, and to create a plan for how you are going to achieve them. Part of why trauma and many stressful life events can be so devastating is because they signify a loss of control. Setting goals, and a plan of action to achieve those goals, is extremely empowering and is an important step in beginning to take back control of your life.

S = Self-talk

When you begin to take back control of your life, it’s not uncommon that the nagging inner-critic will begin to rear its ugly head. This is where is can be easy for your negative self-talk to derail your progress towards your goals. This is why it is important to learn how to tame your inner critic and replace self-limiting beliefs that no longer serve you with beliefs and habits that will help you to achieve the goals you are aiming for. 

S = Self-care

A critical component to healing from trauma and coping with life’s mounting pressures is learning to take care of yourself and to begin to believe that you deserve love, kindness, compassion, and care. When you really start to feel that you are worthy, you begin to feel that you deserve happiness and success. Self-care is important to build that belief that you are deserving. You don’t wait to practice self-care until you feel worthy. You practice self-care to remind yourself that you are worthy. The more you practice, the more ingrained this belief will become and the more likely you will be to take consistent actions to improve your life.

Stephanie M. Hutchins, PhD, author of Transformation After Trauma: Embracing Post-Traumatic Growth, helps individuals overcome trauma and cope with stress. She is a Certified Life Coach, Stress Management Coach, Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, and Yoga Instructor. She also owns Serotinous Life, a company that helps individuals overcome stressful and traumatic events. 


Dr. Hutchins taught about the human body as a college professor for 12 years, and the capabilities of the mind and body continue to fascinate her. She guides others in harnessing the power of their mind and body to overcome tremendous hardship brought on by the inevitable stresses of life. Dr. Hutchins combines yoga principles, her knowledge of the human body, and her healing journey to empower others with tools to fuel massive personal and professional growth.

12-Week Online Course 12-Month Coaching Program

12-Week Online Course

This is a self-paced online course that is offered in 6 learning modules. Each module, released biweekly over 12 weeks, includes videos, downloadable tools, awareness-building and habit-forming exercises, and the opportunity to apply the content immediately to your life. 

We will have three, 60-minute coaching calls together; one at the beginning, middle, and end of the 12-week program.

Course Outline and Objectives:

Module 1 - Getting Clear on Why This Is Important to You

  • You will dig down deep into why this work is important to you. You will begin tracking your transformation so you can see your progress over time. You will also create a self-care plan to have in place to cope with difficult emotions as they come up during the course and in daily life.

Module 2 - Identifying the Areas of Your Life That Are Most out of Balance

  • You will examine each of the 10 major areas of your life; career, finances, contribution, health, personal growth, spirituality, family and friends, romance, recreation, and environment. You will evaluate how satisfied you currently are in each area and what you can do to change the areas that you are not satisfied with. 

Module 3 - Getting Clear About Your Goals

  • You will identify your short- and long-term goals. Then you will identify the one goal that would have the greatest positive impact on all areas of your life by achieving. Then you will drill down to the specifics on how you will achieve that goal. 

Module 4 - Identify the Limiting Beliefs That Are Holding You Back

  • You will evaluate the limiting beliefs that have prevented you from achieving your desired goals up to this point. You will learn how to replace these limiting beliefs with ones that better serve you. 

Module 5 - Learning to Take Care of Yourself

  • You will learn the importance of self-care and will be given self-care practices to begin implementing right away. You will start to embrace the idea that the most important person to take care of in your life is YOU.

Module 6 - Where to Go From Here

  • You will work through the fears, shame, and ways in which you need to forgive yourself so you don’t sabotage your success. You will also develop a plan of action to ensure that the new habits and beliefs you created during this course will last a lifetime.

12-Month Coaching Program

This program is offered in 12 learning modules. Each module, released monthly over 12 months, includes videos, downloadable tools, awareness-building and habit-forming exercises, and the opportunity to apply the content immediately to your life.

The same material that is covered in the 12-week online course is covered in the 12-month coaching program. But the 12-month program is extended in length so we can process the work in the course together in one-on-one coaching calls. We will discuss any challenges you faced during the activities, the aha moments you had, and opportunities for change.

We will have 27, 60-minute coaching calls together:

  • Two calls per month during the 12-month program
  • One call one month after the program ends
  • One call three months after the program ends
  • One call six months after the program ends

  • You will begin tracking your transformation so you can see your progress over time. You will also create a self-care plan to have in place to cope with difficult emotions as they come up during this program and in daily life.

  • You will identify your short- and long-term goals for each of the 10 areas of your life. 

Month 6 – Getting Specific About the Outcome You Want to Achieve 

  • You will identify the one goal that would have the greatest positive impact on all areas of your life by achieving. Then you will drill down to the specifics on how you will achieve that goal. 

Month 7 - Identify the Limiting Beliefs That Are Holding You Back

  • You will evaluate the limiting beliefs that have prevented you from achieving your desired goals up to this point. You will also have the opportunity to identify your positive beliefs and examine how they have served you. 

Month 8 – Changing Your Perspective

  • You will learn how to replace your limiting beliefs with ones that better serve you. 

Month 9 - Learning to Take Care of Yourself

  • You will learn the importance of positive self care and to embrace the idea that the most important person to take care of in your life is YOU.

Month 10 – Learning to Live in the Present by Practicing Mindfulness 

  • You will learn about meditation and how to practice mindfulness in each of the 10 areas of your life.

Month 11 - Working Through Fear, Shame, and Forgiveness

  • You will work through the fears, shame, and ways in which you need to forgive yourself so you can move forward with your goals and not sabotage your success. 

Month 12 - Where to Go From Here

  • You will develop a plan of action to ensure that the new habits and beliefs you created during this program will last a lifetime.

I am not a therapist. Therapists treat diagnosed conditions. They focus on your past to explain why you have your present thoughts, behaviors, and habits. You could be in therapy for years or a lifetime. If your trauma is recent, or you're still having difficulty functioning in your daily life, therapy would be best for you. Therapy can be helpful in getting individuals back to a baseline level of good health.

I am a life coach. Life coaches do not diagnose and do not treat specific conditions. Life coaches spend little time going back into your past. Instead, they focus on getting you from where you are now to where you want to be. Life coaches set their clients up with the skills they need to eventually reach all their goals on their own. That's why coaching is not meant to be a permanent relationship.

If you're at a baseline level of good health and you're needing help getting unstuck so you can reach the bigger goals you have in life, then you would be a good candidate for life coaching. 

Although this program focuses on helping people who have experienced trauma, this program is meant for those individuals who are functioning in their daily life, but can see how the effects of their trauma still linger in their present life. My programs are about empowering my clients with the skills they need to move forward from an unchangeable past.

Participants in the 12-week course will have access to the course content (all modules, videos, and tools) for 12 months after their purchase date. Unused coaching calls will expire 12 months after their purchase date.

The 12-week program was designed to be a move-at-your-own-pace program. Therefore, you can pause and/or revisit the program and participate in your coaching calls anytime within 12 months after your purchase date.

However, some people feel that they respond more openly to the questions in the worksheets if they don't think anyone will read what they wrote. Therefore, sharing your worksheets with me is optional. 

Coaching sessions will be held on Zoom. I will ask that you have your camera on. I find it is easier to feel connected when we can see one another. The improved relationship strengthens the impact of the coaching session.

You will receive instructions on how to schedule your coaching sessions in the online course you will have access to immediately after registration.

If you sign up for coaching sessions, it is your responsibility to notify me at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting if you cannot make the session. To reschedule your session, simply send an email to [email protected]. If the session is cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled start of your call, no refund or rescheduling of the appointment will be available to you.
