Who Am I Now?
A self-assessment for people who’ve been changed by loss, upheaval, or major life transitions — and are trying to make sense of who they’re becoming.
At some point, many people realize that life has stabilized, but something still feels off.
You’re functioning. You’re getting through your days. But the version of you that existed before the loss, trauma, burnout, relationship ending, illness, or prolonged stress no longer fits — and the next version hasn’t fully taken shape yet.
This self-assessment is designed for that in-between space.
It offers a grounded way to reflect on what no longer fits, what is beginning to emerge, and why your experience makes sense — so you can move forward with more clarity and self-trust.

When Life Changes You
After major change, it’s common for life to move forward before your sense of self does.
You may recognize yourself here:
- You’re doing what you need to do, but something feels misaligned.
- You don’t fully recognize yourself in the life you’re living right now.
- The old version of you no longer fits — but the next version hasn’t fully formed.
- You feel disconnected from your own wants, needs, or instincts.
- You keep asking some version of the same question: What now?
Nothing about this means you’re failing or falling behind. This is what identity transition can feel like after trauma, loss, burnout, or upheaval — especially when life looks stable on the outside, but internally you know something has shifted.
What you’ll explore:
Name What No Longer Fits
Identify which parts of your old identity, roles, or patterns no longer align with who you are now — without judgment or pressure to let go before you’re ready.
Understand the In-Between
Notice where you may feel caught between who you were and who you’re becoming, and why that uncertainty is a natural part of change after trauma, loss, or burnout.
Notice What’s Already Shifting
See signs of subtle rebuilding that may already be underway — even if clarity still feels incomplete, tentative, or in progress.
Orient Toward What Comes Next
Reflect on what feels important or possible now, without pressure to decide, commit, or have everything figured out yet.
You’ll receive a downloadable PDF you can complete digitally or print if you prefer.
When Something Has Shifted
This self-assessment was created for moments when life has moved forward, but your sense of self hasn’t quite caught up yet.
You may be capable, functional, and outwardly steady — and still feel uncertain about who you are now, what fits, or how to orient yourself after trauma, loss, burnout, or significant change.
This isn’t about figuring everything out or pushing toward answers. It’s about pausing long enough to notice what has changed internally, what no longer aligns, and what questions are beginning to take shape.
The assessment offers space to reflect without pressure, labels, or expectations — simply a way to better understand where you are right now and why it makes sense.
About Me
I’m Stephanie M. Hutchins, PhD — an author, educator, and coach whose work centers on identity, healing, and what it means to rebuild yourself after trauma, loss, and major life change.
I’ve written multiple books exploring post-traumatic growth, self-trust, and the long process of becoming whole again, including See Through, which examines radical honesty, identity reconstruction, and living without self-abandonment. My writing and work are shaped by both lived experience and years of teaching and guiding others through complex periods of transition.
I don’t believe people need to be fixed, rushed, or categorized to move forward. I believe clarity comes from understanding — from slowing down enough to notice what no longer fits, what is changing, and what wants to emerge next.
This self-assessment reflects that approach. It’s not a shortcut or a solution. It’s an invitation to understand yourself more clearly, on your own terms.
Start With Clarity
