What Is AMA Week?

A trauma-informed space for your hardest healing questions.

AMA Week (Ask Me Anything) is a 7-day experience where you can submit your most pressing trauma recovery questions—and receive personal email responses from Stephanie M. Hutchins, PhD.

Whether you’re navigating the freeze response, trying to set boundaries without guilt, or feeling stuck in the “in-between” of healing, AMA Week offers clear, science-backed support written just for you.

This isn’t therapy—and it’s not ongoing 1:1 coaching. It’s a more accessible way to receive trauma-informed guidance in a format that meets you right where you are. Thoughtful, personal, and rooted in lived experience and a deep understanding of the nervous system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Anything related to your healing journey—emotional regulation, triggers, boundaries, self-trust, fawning, freeze, shame, overwhelm. If it’s keeping you stuck, you can ask about it.

You can think of each question as one main area of focus or topic you'd like support with. If your question is multi-layered or emotionally complex, that’s completely okay. You don’t need to edit yourself or try to make it neat. I’ll meet you there with clarity and care.

That said, if you have several unrelated questions—like one about boundaries and another about flashbacks—please spread them across your 3 submissions. This helps me give each response the thoughtfulness it deserves and helps you get the clearest guidance in return.

Here’s a real example (shared with permission):

Question:

“I’m doing ‘well’ on the outside, but I keep looping on things people said to me years ago. Why can’t I just let it go?”

Response (excerpt):

“What you’re describing isn’t weakness—it’s your nervous system trying to complete something it never got to resolve. Trauma doesn't always show up as chaos—it can show up as quiet looping, because your system still believes it's unsafe to relax. In these cases, the work isn’t to 'move on,' but to bring safety to the part of you still trying to understand, protect, or explain what happened. I’ll share a containment practice and a gentle redirect that can help ease this loop…”

(Responses average 2–3 thoughtful paragraphs with optional practices, book/page suggestions, or trauma science references.)

Not at all. You can submit them one at a time over the 7-day period, or all at once if you're ready. Responses are sent within 24–48 hours.

I’ll include optional prompts in the welcome email to help spark clarity if you’re feeling unsure.

Yes—responses are sent within 24–48 hours, including weekends.

Meet Your Guide

I’m Stephanie M. Hutchins, PhD—a trauma-informed coach, former human biology professor, and author of multiple books on trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and rebuilding your life after survival.

I’ve spent over a decade studying the nervous system, trauma, and healing—and just as importantly, I’ve lived it. Every offering I create is grounded in science, shaped by experience, and built for real life.

I created AMA Week for people who aren’t ready for 1:1 coaching—or just want a quieter, more contained space to ask the hard questions. You’ll get thoughtful, personal responses—never fluff, never judgment.

While I hold a PhD and bring years of trauma-informed training to my work, I don’t offer therapy or clinical treatment. What I offer is structured coaching and emotional support—always within a safe, boundaried space.
